TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 25, 2025: National Voter’s Day was observed today with a special program held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Kumar Singh emphasized the crucial role voters play in strengthening democracy, stating, “The greater the participation of voters, the stronger our democracy becomes.” The event, organized to motivate citizens to vote, also highlighted the nation’s commitment to fair elections, citing the Election Commission’s founding on this day to ensure transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
Increased Women’s Voter Participation a Matter of Pride
Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale spoke of the growing awareness and participation of women voters, calling it a significant achievement. She noted that during the previous Lok Sabha elections, the number of women voters surpassed that of men in some areas, a trend that continues to rise. “It is a matter of pride for all of us,” she said.
Chhattisgarh’s success in election management was also celebrated, with the state being recognized as the Best Performing State in the country. Mrs. Kangale praised the administrative staff for their essential contributions in achieving higher voter turnout, noting the increase in voting percentages across the state.
Honoring Excellence in Election Work
During the program, several individuals were honored for their outstanding contributions to the electoral process. Raigarh Collector Mr. Kartikeya Goyal was awarded the Best District Election Officer for achieving the highest voter turnout in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Other honorees included Durg Collector Ms. Richa Prakash Chaudhary, Dantewada Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, and Raipur Collector Mr. Gaurav Kumar Singh for their exceptional work in ensuring efficient elections despite challenges.
Additionally, various officers, master trainers, and staff members were recognized for their exemplary service in electoral training, voter registration, and special programs aimed at increasing voter engagement, including a special award for motivating migrant workers to vote.
A Day to Reflect on Democracy
The event concluded with a voter oath, reaffirming the commitment to uphold the values of democracy. Special guests, including Ms. Rita Shandilya, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, also shared their thoughts, emphasizing that voting is not only a right but also a duty, essential for shaping the nation’s future.
