TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 4, 2025: On National Cancer Day, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Smriti Medical College, Raipur, received approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to introduce 03 seats in the MCh (Surgical Oncology) Super Specialization course. The approval, granted by the National Medical Commission (NMC), allows the course to begin in the current academic session, marking a major advancement in cancer care education in Chhattisgarh.

Currently, the Cancer Department at Raipur Medical College already offers 6 recognized seats for the MD (Radiotherapy) program. Raipur Medical College Becomes Central India’s First Government Institution for MCh Surgical Oncology
Raipur Medical College is now the first government medical institution in Central India to offer this specialized course. Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, the college’s Dean, and Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Professor of Surgical Oncology, expressed pride in the achievement. The college’s application for the course, submitted last year, faced some initial delays due to deficiencies, but after addressing the issues and appealing twice, it was successfully approved. Dr. Gupta’s visit to New Delhi for a thorough evaluation of the college’s facilities and resources was crucial in securing the final approval from the NMC.
