TFP Bureau, New Delhi, February 8, 2025:  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, putting an end to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 10-year reign. With 48 seats in the 70-member Assembly, BJP comfortably crossed the majority mark of 36, while AAP was reduced to just 22 seats. The Congress and other parties failed to win any seats.

The results mark a significant setback for AAP, which had dominated Delhi politics since 2015. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of BJP’s Parvesh Verma, while senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia lost from Jangpura. However, AAP leader Atishi managed to retain her seat.

Following the victory, BJP leaders launched a scathing attack on AAP. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the “politics of lies and loot” had been put to an end. Chhattisgarh BJP workers celebrated by singing a song mocking Kejriwal, hinting at legal troubles ahead for the AAP chief. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also took a dig at the party, stating, “AAP’s destruction is complete after 10 years.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and BJP national president JP Nadda for the landslide win. The victory marks a dramatic shift from the 2020 elections, where AAP had won 62 seats against BJP’s 8.

With the AAP era over, BJP is now set to form the next government in the national capital.
