TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 10, 2025: In a decisive move to curb fraudulent claims under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana, the Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Department has canceled the registrations of 15 hospitals for one year, following inspections of 28 hospitals in Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur. Additionally, four hospitals have been suspended for six months, four for three months, and five others have received warning letters.

The crackdown was triggered by alerts from the National Anti-Fraud Unit (NAFU) of the National Health Authority (NHA), which regularly identifies suspicious claims for investigation. The Chhattisgarh government swiftly launched a thorough inquiry, with teams of doctors and officials inspecting two hospitals a day across the three districts. The inspections revealed significant irregularities, prompting the issuance of show-cause notices to all 28 hospitals. Despite being given time to respond, many of the hospitals provided unsatisfactory explanations, leading to the strict actions now being enforced.

Chhattisgarh CM Stresses Government’s Commitment to Public Health

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted the state’s unwavering commitment to public health and the integrity of its healthcare schemes. “The Ayushman Scheme and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana aim to provide accessible healthcare to all citizens of Chhattisgarh. Any hospital found engaged in fraudulent activities will face strict consequences. We will not tolerate any violations,” he said.

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal reinforced the message, emphasizing that the government will continue to conduct inspections rigorously to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach only eligible beneficiaries.

The Chhattisgarh government has assured that similar inspections will continue across other districts to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the Ayushman Scheme. Any institution found violating the rules will face immediate action.
