TFP Bureau, New Delhi, February 18, 2025: Rekha Gupta has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi following a legislative party meeting. She will be the ninth Chief Minister of the national capital, with her appointment marking a significant moment in the city’s political landscape.
Pravesh Verma has been named Deputy Chief Minister, while Vijender Gupta will serve as the Speaker of the Assembly. Senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and OP Dhankar attended the meeting as observers.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Ramlila Maidan on February 20 at 12:35 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, is expected to attend the event.
Delhi has seen three Chief Ministers each from the Congress and BJP, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has held the position twice. Gupta’s appointment marks a new chapter in the city’s governance under the BJP leadership.
