
TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 25, 2025: In a major step towards providing safe and affordable housing for working women, the Union Finance Ministry has approved ₹202 crore for the construction of six women’s hostels in Chhattisgarh’s largest cities—Raipur, Bilaspur, and Naya Raipur. The hostels will be developed under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25.
As part of the project, the Raipur Municipal Corporation will construct two 250-seater hostels in Telibandha and Tatibandh and a 223-seater hostel in Bhainsthan. In Bilaspur, CSIDC will build 224-seater hostels in Tifra and Sirgitti. Meanwhile, a 1,000-seater hostel will be developed in Naya Raipur by the Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai expressed his gratitude to the Government of India for sanctioning funds to ensure safe housing for working women in urban areas. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw highlighted that the proposal for these hostels was submitted in line with the state’s commitment to good governance, women’s empowerment, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Developed India-2047’ vision.
“The approval of these hostels will provide much-needed safe housing for working women in Raipur, Bilaspur, and Naya Raipur. This initiative will enhance security and convenience for women professionals,” said Deputy CM Arun Saw.
Funding Breakdown
The Union Finance Ministry has allocated:
– ₹103.22 crore for the 1,000-seater women’s hostel in Naya Raipur
– ₹15.10 crore for the 250-seater hostel in Tatibandh, Raipur
– ₹15.05 crore for the 250-seater hostel in Telibandha, Raipur
– ₹17.23 crore for the 223-seater hostel in Bhainsthan, Raipur
– ₹26.15 crore for the 224-seater hostel in Tifra, Bilaspur
– ₹25.25 crore for the 224-seater hostel in Sirgitti, Bilaspur
This initiative is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of working women in Chhattisgarh, addressing a long-standing need for secure and affordable accommodation.
