The comic book was unveiled by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Shri Rajiv Kumar, along with ECs Shri Anup Chandra Pandey and Shri Arun Goel, at Nirvachan Sadan. It pays tribute to the iconic cartoonist late Shri Pran Kumar Sharma, who brought these timeless characters to life.

CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar, reminiscing about his own childhood memories, emphasized that comics remain a relevant and irreplaceable medium for outreach, even in today’s digital age. These characters, known for their universal appeal and emphasis on values like honesty and compassion, provide a creative platform to convey information about elections. With a significant following among children and teenagers, comics offer a means for the Election Commission to effectively engage with youth and instill a sense of informed and responsible citizenship from an early age.

EC Shri Anup Chandra Pandey highlighted that the comic book presents critical election-related issues, such as ethical elections and participative democracy, in a reader-friendly manner that resonates with both children and adults.

EC Shri Arun Goel added that the comic book combines humor with a positive and constructive message about the election process, encouraging young and future voters to actively participate in the electoral process.

“Chacha Chaudhary aur Chunavi Dangal” serves as a versatile tool for voter awareness. It primarily aims to inspire young eligible voters to register and participate actively in upcoming elections. The comic introduces readers to various Election Commission of India apps, such as cVigil and KYC, through the character Chacha Chaudhary, empowering them to engage actively and informatively in elections. The comic also places strong emphasis on the importance of women’s participation in the electoral process, aligning with the ECI’s efforts to increase women’s involvement.

This comic book is available in both print and digital formats, ensuring accessibility across various platforms. To inspire young minds, free copies will be distributed to schools to educate future voters about elections. The digital version of the comic is accessible online.

Chacha Chaudhary’s popularity transcends urban cities, resonating deeply in small towns and villages across India. Since its introduction by Cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma in 1960, the character’s enduring appeal has stood the test of time. This unique initiative leverages the emotional connection forged through nostalgia to create a holistic approach to voter awareness.

The launch event was attended by Mr. Nikhil Pran, Director and Publisher of Pran Comics, along with senior officials of the Election Commission.
