Nomination Process Commences for First Phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections

TFP Bureau, Raipur ; Oct 14, 2023: As the first phase of assembly general elections in Chhattisgarh approaches, the notification for the initial round of voting has been issued. The nomination process officially commenced with the issuance of this notification. Surprisingly, no candidate filed their nomination papers for the 20 assembly seats during the first day of the process.

The first phase of the elections will require candidates to file nomination papers for eight assembly constituencies in the Bastar division, including areas within the districts of Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Kabirdham.

Candidates have until October 20 to submit their nomination papers for these 20 seats, with scrutiny scheduled for October 21. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 23. The first phase of voting is set to occur on November 7, and the results of both election phases will be counted on December 3.

In this initial phase, residents of Chhattisgarh will cast their votes for the following assembly constituencies: Konta, Bijapur, Dantewada, Chitrakote, Jagdalpur, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Keshkal, Kanker, Bhanupratapur, Antagarh, Mohla-Manpur, Khujji, Dongargaon, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh, Khairagarh, Kawardha, and Pandariya. It remains to be seen which candidates will step forward to represent their constituencies in these upcoming elections.
