Overwhelming Response as 114 Nomination Papers Filed for First Phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections

TFP Bureau, Raipur; Oct 20, 2023: As the deadline for nominations approaches, Chhattisgarh witnesses an enthusiastic participation in the democratic process. On the fifth day of the nomination period, a total of 114 nomination papers were filed for the 20 assembly constituencies of the first phase of the Assembly General Election 2023. This brings the cumulative count to 201 nomination papers filed by 127 candidates for the first phase.
On Thursday’s filings, 16 candidates stepped forward for the Pandariya assembly constituency, while 9 candidates submitted their nominations in Bhanupratappur, Narayanpur, and Jagdalpur assembly constituencies, and 8 candidates in Antagarh. Rajnandgaon and Chitrakote saw 7 candidates each file their nominations, while Kawardha, Mohla-Manpur, and Bastar each had 6 candidates in the race. Furthermore, 5 candidates presented their nominations in Dantewada, Dongargarh, and Khujji, with 4 nomination papers submitted in Keshkal and Konta, and 3 in Kondagaon. Additionally, 2 candidates filed nominations in Dongargaon, Kanker, and Bijapur, and 1 in Khairagarh.
The nomination process is currently underway in 12 assembly constituencies of Bastar division, including Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and 8 assembly constituencies of Kabirdham districts for the first phase. Candidates have until October 20 to file their nomination papers for the 20 seats of the first phase, with scrutiny scheduled for October 21. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 23.
The first phase of voting is set for November 7, while the counting of votes for both phases is scheduled for December 3.The first phase will see voting in the following assembly constituencies: Konta, Bijapur, Dantewada, Chitrakote, Jagdalpur, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Keshkal, Kanker, Bhanupratappur, Antagarh, Mohla-Manpur, Khujji, Dongargaon, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh, Khairagarh, Kawardha, and Pandariya.
