TFP Bureau Report, Oct 25, 2023: The upcoming lunar eclipse holds both scientific and religious significance as it coincides with Sharad Purnima, when the moon is at its fullest with all 16 phases. This rare celestial event will grace the skies on Saturday, October 28, 2023, casting its shadow in the zodiac sign of Aries and impacting all other signs.

Time Frame:

The lunar eclipse is set to occur late night between 1:05 am and 2:24 am on the 28th of October, lasting for 1 hour and 18 minutes. During this time, the Sutak period will be in effect in India.

Sutak Kaal Timing:

The Sutak period for the lunar eclipse commences 9 hours prior to the eclipse, beginning at 4:05 pm as per Indian time. The eclipse will be observed with the moon facing south.

Geographical Visibility:

The lunar eclipse will be visible across several regions, including India, Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, South-Eastern America, North America, Canada, Brazil, and the Atlantic Ocean. In India, the eclipse will be viewable from start to finish.

Precautions during Sutak:

Sutak for the lunar eclipse begins at 4:05 pm. It is advised not to engage in auspicious activities, bathe, perform havans, or come into contact with idols of deities during this period. Instead, individuals can chant their Guru Mantra, recite the names of deities, or read the Hanuman Chalisa.

Eating food is also discouraged during the Sutak period, but exceptions are made for pregnant women, children, and the elderly. Adding basil leaves and Kush to their food and drinks prior to the Sutak period helps mitigate any negative effects of the eclipse.

Post-Eclipse Virtuous Practices:

Once the moon is free from the eclipse, it is considered auspicious to partake in activities such as bathing, charity, worship, and prayers. In light of this, on the morning of October 29, after bathing, devotees are encouraged to perform rituals, offer charity, and seek blessings from the divine to counteract any inauspicious influences brought on by the lunar eclipse.
