Union Minister Piyush Goyal Boosts India-US Ties in San Francisco Visit
TFP Bureau, New Delhi; Nov 14, 2023: Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, kick-started his official visit to San Francisco with a tour of the Tesla Factory in Fremont. Engaging with senior executives of the Tesla group, the Minister explored opportunities for collaboration.
Later in the day, Minister Goyal conducted bilateral meetings with key figures including Her Excellency Ambassador Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative, Minister of Trade Dukgeun Ahn from the Republic of Korea, and Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong from Singapore. Discussions encompassed potential collaborations under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), trade enhancement, WTO matters, and mutual interests.
The Minister urged the expedited conclusion of the AITIGA and CEPA reviews during interactions with Singaporean and South Korean counterparts. Additionally, Goyal participated in the Investors Round Table, engaging with venture capitalists and entrepreneurs across various sectors. He shed light on India’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business.
In the coming days, Minister Goyal is set to participate in the third in-person IPEF Ministerial meeting and engage in discussions at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Strengthening ties between India and the US, the Minister will interact with business leaders and officials to fortify the partnership.
