TFP Bureau, Raipur, Nov 30, 2023: The Election Commission of India has taken a significant step toward ensuring the transparency of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election results by appointing counting observers for all 90 assembly constituencies. As the counting of votes is scheduled for December 3, each constituency will have a dedicated counting observer closely monitoring the entire counting process. The Election Commission aims to uphold the integrity of the election process, and the appointed observers will play a crucial role in overseeing the proceedings.
Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale emphasized that the counting process would be conducted under the vigilant supervision of observers appointed by the Election Commission of India. The observers will closely monitor various stages of the counting, starting with the scanning of QR codes on votes received from the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS). This critical step will be carried out under their watchful eyes.
During the counting, observers will have the authority to visit any counting table to observe the process. In addition to counting observers, general observers assigned for the election will also be present to ensure a comprehensive oversight of the counting proceedings. At the end of each round, two control units will undergo random testing in the presence of a candidate or their agent, supervised by an observer.
Furthermore, after completing all the counting rounds, the votes will undergo verification by selecting five Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips through a draw of lots. This meticulous approach aims to instill confidence in the electoral process and provide a fair and accurate representation of the people’s choice.
Assembly-wise observers have been appointed by the Election Commission of India, covering constituencies across the state. These observers will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and credibility of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023.
