TFP Bureau, New Delhi; Dec 1,2023: The Ministry of Coal has reported a substantial upswing in coal production, reaching 84.53 million tonnes (MT) in November 2023, marking an impressive 11.03% increase compared to the corresponding month in the previous year (76.14 MT). Coal India Limited (CIL) contributed significantly to this growth, producing 65.97 MT (Provisional) in November 2023, an 8.74% rise from 60.67 MT in November 2022.
The cumulative coal production for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to November, has witnessed a remarkable surge, totaling 591.28 MT (Provisional). This represents a robust 12.73% growth compared to the same period in the fiscal year 2022-23 (524.53 MT).
Coal dispatch also experienced a substantial boost in November 2023, reaching an impressive 81.63 MT (Provisional). This marks a significant progress compared to the 74.87 MT (Provisional) recorded in November 2022, reflecting a commendable growth rate of 9.02%. CIL’s dispatch performance was noteworthy, reaching 62.26 MT (Provisional) in November 2023, compared to 59.91 MT in November 2022, showcasing a growth of 3.92%.
The cumulative coal dispatch for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to November, has seen a notable increase, totaling 623.04 MT (Provisional). This indicates a substantial 11.70% growth compared to the corresponding period in the fiscal year 2022-23 (557.80 MT).
The coal sector’s exceptional growth is attributed to the unwavering commitment of Coal Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), playing a pivotal role in propelling this progress. This growth aligns with the Ministry of Coal’s dedication to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and supports the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
