TFP Bureau, Raipur, Dec 21, 2023: In a groundbreaking move, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai presented the second supplementary budget for the financial year 2023-24, amounting to a whopping Rs 12,992 crore 70 lakh 98 thousand 800, in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. This budget marks the first significant step of the government towards fulfilling the promises outlined in Modi’s guarantee.
Chief Minister Sai, while addressing the Assembly, expressed his commitment to delivering on the promises made to the public in their manifesto. He assured the youth of the state that he would tirelessly work for their betterment, resembling a fatherly figure. Additionally, he pledged to prioritize the safety and prosperity of the sisters, taking on the role of a brother. While adhering to the son religion, he promised to focus on the health and facilities of all the elders in the state.
Sai thanked the people of Chhattisgarh for their unprecedented support and confidence in Modi’s guarantee, emphasizing that the government is determined to fulfill every promise despite inheriting a challenging financial situation.
Key Provisions of the Supplementary Budget:
1. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: A provision of Rs 3,799 crore has been allocated in the supplementary budget for the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, aiming to provide pucca houses to 18 lakh rural families in the state.
2. Paddy Bonus: A provision of Rs 3,800 crore has been made to fulfill the promise of paying the two-year outstanding paddy bonus to more than 13 lakh farmers in the state.
3. Mahtari Vandan Yojana: Rs 1,200 crore has been allotted in the supplementary budget to kickstart the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, focusing on the economic self-reliance of women.
4. Water Life Mission: A substantial provision of Rs 1,230 crore has been dedicated to the Water Life Mission, with the goal of providing clean drinking water to approximately 50 lakh rural families through domestic tap connections.
5. Krishak Jeevan Jyoti Yojana: A provision of Rs 1,123 crore has been allocated to ensure the smooth functioning of the Krishak Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, benefitting 6 lakh 93 thousand farmers with free electricity for irrigation pumps.
6. Social Security Pension Scheme: Recognizing the need for enhanced social security, an additional Rs 307 crore has been provided in the supplementary budget to support destitute, elderly, disabled, widowed, and abandoned women.
7. National Health Mission: To improve healthcare facilities across the state, an additional provision of Rs 255 crore 25 lakh has been made for the National Health Mission.
8. Sewerage Treatment Plant: Addressing environmental concerns, Rs 250 crore has been allotted for setting up a sewerage treatment plant as per the National Green Tribunal’s directives.
9. Special Infrastructure Scheme in Naxalite Affected Areas: A provision of Rs 150 crore has been made to enhance security measures, including advanced police station and outpost construction, in Naxalite-affected regions.
Chief Minister Sai, hailing from a humble background, emphasized his understanding of the struggles faced by the poor. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that the stoves of poor families no longer extinguish and that everyone will have their own pucca house.
