TFP Bureau, New Delhi; Dec 31, 2023: In a significant move to counter anti-India activities, the Ministry of Home Affairs, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, has declared ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH)’ as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, took to social media to express the government’s stance on the matter. He stated, “The outfit is involved in forbidden activities to separate J&K from India and establish Islamic rule. The group is found spreading anti-India propaganda and continuing terror activities to fuel secessionism in J&K.”

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to swiftly counter any form of anti-India engagement, the Home Minister remarked, “Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, any individual or organization found involved in anti-India activities will be thwarted forthwith.”
The objectives of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir (TeH), as outlined by the Home Minister, include the separation of Jammu and Kashmir from India with the establishment of Islamic rule. The organization has been implicated in fostering terrorism and disseminating anti-India propaganda, contributing to the promotion of secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir. Numerous criminal cases have been registered against TeH under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act, RPC, and IPC.
This declaration by the Government of India marks a decisive step in addressing threats to the sovereignty, security, and integrity of the nation, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region. The move underscores the government’s unwavering dedication to curbing activities detrimental to the nation’s well-being. The announcement comes into effect immediately, sending a clear message against any form of subversive engagement within the country.
