TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 21, 2024: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla addressed the inaugural session of a two-day enlightenment program for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Chhattisgarh. Emphasizing the significance of active participation in the Assembly, Shri Birla highlighted that the more an MLA engages in Assembly proceedings, the better they can articulate their views, effectively representing their constituencies.
During the program, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Birla stressed the assembly’s role as the temple of the Constitution, underscoring the importance of dignified conduct within the House. He encouraged MLAs to deepen their understanding of assembly rules and parliamentary traditions, asserting that this knowledge enhances their effectiveness in representing their areas.
Shri Birla advised MLAs not only to address local issues but also to consider national and international perspectives when presenting matters in the Assembly. Reflecting on the past proceedings and debates within the Assembly, he noted the value of digitized documents and listening to historical debates to gain insights into various issues.
Commending Chhattisgarh’s diversity and cultural richness, Shri Birla expressed optimism about the state becoming a model for the country through innovation and new traditions. He urged MLAs to learn from other states, interact with their counterparts, and implement successful practices in Chhattisgarh.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Shri Satish Mahana also addressed the gathering, highlighting the achievement of making Uttar Pradesh a paperless assembly under the guidance of Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla and Prime Minister Shri Modi. Stressing the importance of continuous learning, he encouraged MLAs to stay committed to enlightenment and education.
Lok Sabha General Secretary Shri Utpal Kumar Singh emphasized that the orientation program would significantly contribute to MLAs’ understanding of assembly processes. He noted that providing examples during the program would help MLAs perform effectively during their tenure.
In the absence of Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Brijmohan Aggarwal conveyed his message, expressing deep satisfaction that Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla had graced the enlightenment program. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant also spoke at the event, congratulating the attendees and highlighting the program’s potential benefits for MLAs.
The program began with detailed information about the enlightenment program provided by Assembly Secretary Mr. Dinesh Sharma.
