Union Home Minister Amit Shah Reviews Significant Reduction in LWE Impact in Chhattisgarh

The Union Home Minister highlighted the necessity of proactive and sensitive handling of local grievances related to legitimate entitlements.

TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 22, 2024: Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) situation in Chhattisgarh today in Raipur. The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and other senior officials, highlighted a substantial decrease in LWE-affected regions and violence.

Shri Amit Shah noted the success achieved in combating LWE, emphasizing the need to completely eradicate the Maoist threat in specific pockets of Chhattisgarh within the next three years. He called for a detailed roadmap involving all stakeholders to target the entire ecosystem supporting LWE. The Union Home Minister directed State Police to address remaining security gaps, conduct thorough investigations, closely monitor prosecution efforts, and cut off financial streams supporting LWE activities.

Additionally, Shri Amit Shah stressed the importance of saturating Central and State Government schemes in LWE-affected districts, ensuring the benefits of these programs reach villages in proximate areas. He called for flexibility in fund allocation and usage in highly LWE-affected districts in Chhattisgarh. The Union Home Minister highlighted the necessity of proactive and sensitive handling of local grievances related to legitimate entitlements.

Following the meeting, the Union Home Secretary engaged in a detailed interaction with Collectors and SSPs of highly LWE-affected districts, addressing specific concerns and aligning strategies to further diminish the LWE impact.
