Chhattisgarh Aims to Double GDP: Finance Minister Unveils Ambitious Plans for State’s Development

Shri Chaudhary has inaugurated the “Ease of Doing Business Room” at GST Bhawan in Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 2, 2024: In a significant push towards economic growth, Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary outlined the ambitious goal of doubling Chhattisgarh’s GDP in the next five years. Speaking at the Niti Se Pragati discussion organized by the Electronics and IT Department in Naya Raipur, the Finance Minister emphasized the need to align the state with the vision of a developed India under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai.

Minister Chaudhary highlighted the importance of innovation and knowledge in today’s era, stressing that a better idea can propel anyone forward. He echoed PM Shri Modi’s call of “Jai Anusandhan” (Hail Research) as more than a slogan, urging collective efforts to foster a culture of innovation. The budget reflects this commitment with a provision of an interest-free loan of Rs 1 lakh crore for 50 years dedicated to innovation and startups.

Furthermore, Chhattisgarh’s government, led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, has set an ambitious target of establishing 6,000 IT professionals in Naya Raipur within the next year. Minister Chaudhary envisions Naya Raipur becoming a hub for IT, business conferences, and wedding centers in the next five years.

Industries Minister Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan, also present at the discussion, emphasized the impact of even small industries in providing employment opportunities. He revealed ongoing efforts on a new industrial policy, focusing on benefiting both industries and startups. Minister Dewangan welcomed inputs from various stakeholders to shape the new industrial policy, ensuring more facilities for startups and industries in the state.

Meanwhile, in a separate initiative, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary has inaugurated the “Ease of Doing Business Room” at GST Bhawan in Raipur. This room, aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and taxpayers, will address challenges faced by new businesses during GST registration. The Ease of Doing Business Room will also host training sessions, seminars, and workshops to guide businessmen, taxpayers, and organizations on various aspects, including starting new businesses and tax-related procedures.

Joint Commissioner State Tax will oversee the chamber, and the initiative aligns with broader objectives such as the ‘Green Corridor’ project for identified large taxpayers and efforts to simplify procedures for setting up industries and businesses. The move reflects the state’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for business growth and development.
