TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 9, 2024: The Chhattisgarh government unveiled its much-anticipated budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, allocating a staggering Rs 1,47,500 crore towards various sectors. Emphasizing inclusive growth and development, the budget reflects a concerted effort to address the needs of the marginalized sections of society and bolster infrastructure across the state.
Major Schemes:
1. Krishak Unnati Yojana: A provision of Rs 10,000 crore has been made to economically empower small and medium farmers, aiming to provide them with substantial economic benefits.
2. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural): An allocation of Rs 8,369 crore has been earmarked to facilitate rural housing construction, ensuring improved living conditions for the underprivileged.
3. Jal Jeevan Mission: Recognizing the importance of water supply, Rs 4,500 crore has been allocated to the mission, aiming to ensure access to tap water in rural households.
4. Development and Maintenance of Higher Secondary Schools: A provision of Rs 3,952 crore has been made to enhance the infrastructure and quality of higher secondary education institutions in the state.
5. Free Power Supply for Agricultural Pumps: In a move to support agriculture, Rs 3,500 crore has been allocated for providing free power supply to 5 HP agricultural pumps.
6. Chief Minister Khadyan Assistance Scheme: A significant sum of Rs 3,400 crore has been set aside to provide assistance to the underprivileged in accessing essential food items.
7. Mahtari Vandan Yojana: With the objective of empowering women, Rs 3,000 crore has been allocated to the scheme, aiming to make women self-reliant.
8. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana: In a bid to improve rural connectivity, Rs 841 crore has been allocated to the scheme, focusing on the development of rural road infrastructure.
9. Amrit Mission Scheme: A provision of Rs 700 crore has been made towards the Amrit Mission Scheme, emphasizing the importance of clean drinking water and sanitation.
10. Pradhanmantri Janman Yojana: With a focus on maternal and child health, Rs 300 crore has been allocated as the state’s share in the centrally sponsored scheme.
11. Shri Ram Lala Darshan: Acknowledging the cultural significance, Rs 35 crore has been allocated for facilitating the pilgrimage to Shri Ram Lala in Ayodhya.
Sector-wise Allocation:
The budget reflects a balanced approach towards various sectors, with significant allocations made in key areas such as education, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
–Education: The School Education Department receives the lion’s share of the budget with an allocation of Rs 21,489 crore, followed by the Higher Education Department with Rs 1,333 crore.
Agriculture and Allied Services: With a focus on agricultural development, the Agricultural Development and Farmers Welfare Department receive Rs 13,435 crore, supplemented by allocations to other allied departments.
Infrastructure: Recognizing the importance of infrastructure, substantial allocations have been made to departments such as Public Works, Public Health Engineering, and Water Resources.
IT Reforms and Decentralized Development:
The budget also lays emphasis on IT-based reforms and decentralized development processes to ensure efficient governance and promote economic growth. Initiatives such as the Bharat Net project, PM Vani Project, and integrated e-procurement project aim to enhance digital infrastructure and service delivery.
Furthermore, the government plans to establish Livelihood Center of Excellence in Nava Raipur and Entrepreneurship Center in Bhilai to foster entrepreneurship and job creation.
