Revocation of Health Worker Attachments Announced by Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 16, 2024: In a significant development, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal declared in the Assembly today the revocation of attachments of health workers across the state. Highlighting concerns over the arbitrary reassignment of health personnel to different locations without valid reasons, the minister emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for the public, especially in remote areas.

The minister clarified that any future attachments would require prior departmental approval, emphasizing Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s directive to prioritize public accessibility to healthcare facilities. “The unnecessary practice of attaching staff hampers the availability of health services in remote areas, and this practice must be abolished,” stated Minister Jaiswal.

Furthermore, in line with Chief Minister Sai’s directives, the Health Department has initiated a recruitment drive for medical officers and specialist doctors in Chhattisgarh. Minister Jaiswal revealed that 246 MBBS doctors have been appointed as medical officers, along with 21 specialists. Notably, fifty percent of these newly-appointed doctors will serve in the remote regions of Bastar and Surguja divisions.

Under the National Health Mission Scheme, the state government has pledged to expedite the appointment process for MBBS and specialist doctors, ensuring appointments within 24 hours of application submission.

Minister Jaiswal also addressed the vacancies within the Health Department, stating that recruitment for over 5,000 ground staff and doctors’ positions will soon commence through Vyapam and PSC.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility, Minister Jaiswal underscored plans to appoint doctors in primary health centers, particularly in remote areas, to bolster healthcare services for all citizens.
