TFP Bureau, New Delhi; February 17, 2024: The Coal Ministry organized a significant Industry Interaction event in Hyderabad on Friday, focusing on advancing coal/gasification projects nationwide. Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the crucial role of such projects in India’s energy landscape and economic progress.
During his Keynote Address, Shri Amrit Lal Meena emphasized India’s energy security and the government’s efforts to boost domestic coal production while reducing coal imports. He underscored the importance of coal and lignite gasification projects in India’s energy transition and encouraged investment in cleaner coal technologies for a greener future.
Shri M. Nagaraju, Additional Secretary & Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal, elaborated on the significance and potential of gasification projects in meeting the nation’s energy requirements while addressing environmental concerns.
Shri PM Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited (CIL), shared insights into CIL’s proactive initiatives in gasification, emphasizing the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. He invited interested players with technological expertise to collaborate with CIL in advancing cleaner energy solutions.
Shri. Shubham Goel, Vice President of SBI Capital Markets Ltd., presented the key aspects of the scheme for promoting coal/gasification projects, underscoring the government’s proactive approach in fostering partnerships and innovation in the coal sector.
Industry experts delivered presentations on various topics, including opportunities in coal gasification, research and development efforts, and high ash coal gasification. The Coal Ministry welcomed industry feedback on the scheme and assured transparency in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
In his closing remarks, Shri Amrit Lal Meena reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to fostering partnerships and leveraging sustainable practices in the coal sector. He encouraged industry stakeholders to participate in the RFP process and contribute their insights to drive innovation and transparency.
