TFP Bureau, Raipur; February 23, 2024: In a significant move aimed at addressing employment and livelihood challenges faced by women, the state government has decided to reassign the operation of ready-to-eat meals to women’s groups under the ‘Modi ki Guarantee’.
During an interaction with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at his office in the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha, women associated with Self-Help Groups expressed their joy and gratitude for the decision. They hailed it as a thoughtful step that would empower thousands of women across the state and restore their confidence.
“We, representing 1786 women’s groups statewide, wholeheartedly thank you for this decision,” expressed the women, who came from districts spanning Surguja to Bastar.
Highlighting the impact of the previous government’s decision to withdraw women’s involvement in ready-to-eat operations, the women explained that nearly 26,000 women from 1786 groups were directly engaged in this work. However, the abrupt halt to their employment caused immense financial strain, affecting around 3 lakh people, including their families. Now, with the current government’s decision, they anticipate a revival of employment opportunities and economic stability.
The women emphasized that the income generated from ready-to-eat operations supported their families and provided financial independence. However, since losing this source of income, they have faced hardships. With the government’s decision to entrust women’s groups once again with ready-to-eat operations, they are optimistic about rebuilding their livelihoods.
Chief Minister Shri Sai assured the women that the quality of ready-to-eat meals would receive special attention to ensure children’s proper nutrition and health. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and Food Minister Shri Dayaldas Baghel were also present during the interaction.
The decision to empower women’s groups underscores the government’s commitment to supporting women’s economic empowerment and addressing nutritional needs, signaling a positive step towards social and economic development.
