Statewide Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive Set for March 3 to 5

Over 36.13 lakh children targeted for vaccination across the state

TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 2, 2024: The annual Pulse Polio Immunisation drive, a cornerstone of the Pulse Polio Immunisation programme, is scheduled to take place across the state from March 3 to March 5, 2024. Aimed at children between the ages of 0 to 5 years, the campaign will see healthcare workers administering two drops of the polio vaccine at designated booths on the first day, March 3. Subsequently, from March 4 to March 5, the Health Department will conduct door-to-door visits to ensure that all eligible children receive the vital vaccine.

Dr. V. R. Bhagat, the State Immunisation officer, confirmed that the necessary vaccines and supplies have been distributed to districts in preparation for the drive. With 14,000 booths strategically positioned across urban and rural areas, the Health Department aims to vaccinate over 36.13 lakh children this year. Additionally, special attention will be given to children in transit, with dedicated teams stationed at key locations such as railway stations, bus stands, markets, and construction sites.

Extensive training has been provided to vaccination teams at various levels, including village, sector, primary health centre, and block levels, ensuring proficient execution of the campaign. Supervisors will be deployed to oversee operations at all booths, guaranteeing smooth and efficient delivery of the polio vaccine to every eligible child.

With all necessary preparations in place, authorities are optimistic about the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio Campaign, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating polio and safeguarding the health of the state’s youngest population.
