TFP Bureau,Raipur; March 4, 2024: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) and Indian Institute of Management Raipur (IIM Raipur) joined hands during the International Conference on “Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and Related Fintech Measures” to enhance collaboration on research, teaching, and exchange of students and faculty. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) also encompasses conducting joint training programs, publications, and other advocacy efforts.
The signing ceremony, part of the conference organized under the auspices of Centre for Law and Sciences, Centre for Securities Law, and Centre for Comparative Laws, took place on March 2. Prof. (Dr.) Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of Indian Institute of Management Raipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Pranjal Kamra, Founder of Finology Ventures Pvt. Ltd., attended as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU and President of the Consortium of National Law Universities of India, remarked, “The MoU between HNLU and IIM Raipur will synergize the interface of Law and Business segments for the stakeholders at large, and we are extremely happy with this new beginning.” Speaking on behalf of IIM Raipur, Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani expressed, “This MoU will lay the foundation for several joint programs by the two frontline institutes of the State and will add a new dimension of collaborative effort in Higher Education, especially with the thrust of multidisciplinarity of NEP.”
The International Conference addressed various regulatory interventions concerning Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency, ranging from Anti Money laundering, KYC, Taxation, Smart Contracts, to Environmental issues. Prof. Ram Kakani elaborated on the journey of cryptocurrency, highlighting the role of Satoshi Nakamoto, while Mr. Pranjal Kamra emphasized the diverse career opportunities for law graduates, including the Fintech Sector.
The conference featured 6 parallel sessions where 41 papers were presented by more than 55 participants across India on themes like Cyber Security Issues, Constitutional perspective, Sustainable Goals, and Regulatory, Administrative, and Legal Challenges. Dr. Vipan Kumar, Registrar in charge, welcomed the gathering during the inaugural session, and Dr. Debmita Mondal, the Conference Secretary, briefed on the theme and format of the conference. Mr. Abhinav Sukhla, the co-secretary, delivered the Vote of thanks, while Ms. Harsimran Kaur and Mr. Prateek Manjul of HNLU anchored the meeting. The Valediction session included the distribution of certificates to the paper presenters and the Best Paper Presentation award.
