TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 5, 2024 – In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale has emphasized the pivotal role of voters in shaping the nation’s future, urging every eligible citizen to exercise their franchise.
Addressing a state-level sweep core committee meeting at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office on Monday, Mrs. Kangale highlighted the significance of voter awareness programs in motivating citizens to vote, particularly in areas with historically low voter turnout.
As part of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, a special ceremony honoring newlywed couples is slated for March 17, aimed at celebrating their participation in the democratic process.
Mrs. Kangale stressed the importance of engaging youth in the electoral process, directing initiatives to mobilize young voters through various channels, including Anganwadi workers, college students, and youth organizations such as NSS, NCC, and Scout Guides. She emphasized the role of youth not only in casting their own votes but also in encouraging others to do the same.
Commending the contribution of NSS, NCC, and Scout Guides in voter awareness campaigns during the previous Assembly Elections-2023, Mrs. Kangale underscored the crucial role of Anganwadi workers throughout the electoral process, lauding their efforts during past elections.
During the meeting, Mrs. Kangale reiterated the importance of excluding children below 14 years of age from voter awareness programs, emphasizing age-appropriate engagement strategies.
She highlighted the collaborative efforts underway at the district level, emphasizing coordination with various departments including Women and Child Development, Higher Education, School Education, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Doordarshan, All India Radio, and the Public Relations Department to ensure comprehensive voter awareness across the state.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. P.S. Dhruv, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Sharda Aggarwal, and representatives from various departments and institutions, including National Service Scheme, Women and Child Development Department, Bharat Scout Guide, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Piyali Foundation, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Doordarshan, All India Radio, and the Public Relations Department.
