TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 9, 2024: Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Chhattisgarh’s government is set to inaugurate the Mahtari Vandan Yojana within 100 days, guaranteed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The virtual launch by Prime Minister Modi is scheduled for Sunday, with Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai presiding over the ceremony at Raipur’s Science College grounds.
The scheme’s rollout will see the transfer of funds to beneficiaries across 146 development blocks, district headquarters, and urban bodies via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary, and Women and Child Development Department Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade provided insights into the initiative.
Speaking about the program, Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade highlighted the significance of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana in improving the lives of married women. Scheduled for March 10, the initial disbursement will benefit approximately 70 lakh women, empowering them to meet their daily needs independently.
Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary emphasized the government’s commitment to uplift farmers, the underprivileged, women, and youth. The scheme, under Prime Minister Modi’s assurance, marks another milestone in the state’s development journey, with ongoing efforts to bolster public welfare.
Promoting Women’s Empowerment and Combating Child Marriage
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana’s primary objective is to empower women and eradicate gender discrimination and inequality. It aims to elevate women’s health and nutrition, foster economic self-reliance, and combat child marriage. Under this scheme, eligible married women will receive Rs 1,000 monthly via DBT, fostering financial independence and empowerment.
In an unprecedented move, over 68,836 user IDs were created to facilitate offline applications, setting a record for efficient processing. The first phase will see an impressive Rs 655 crore 57 lakh transferred to 70 lakh 12 thousand 800 eligible applicants, underscoring the government’s commitment to women’s welfare.
Statewide Mahtari Vandan Sammelan to Commemorate Women’s Empowerment
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Mahtari Vandan Sammelan will be held across all district and block headquarters, including Raipur, on March 10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address attendees, reaffirming the government’s dedication to women’s empowerment.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai will lead the main event in Raipur, where initiatives to combat child marriage will be launched. The conference will showcase women self-help groups’ achievements, emphasizing economic empowerment and government schemes’ benefits.
Distinguished guests, including Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, MPs, and MLAs, will grace the occasion, demonstrating collective support for women’s empowerment. The Women and Child Development Department will spearhead the Mahtari Vandan Yojana’s implementation, underscoring the government’s concerted efforts to uplift women and eradicate social evils.
