TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 19, 2024: The stage is set for the Lok Sabha elections as the notification for the first phase, scheduled for April 19, has been announced, starting with the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency. Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale emphasized that comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure fair and peaceful elections in Bastar. A total of 1961 polling stations, including 4 auxiliary ones, have been established for the elections.
The nomination process for the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency begins with the issuance of the notification on March 20. Candidates can file their nomination papers from 11 am to 3 pm on all working days, except government holidays. The deadline for filing nominations is March 27, with scrutiny scheduled for March 28. Withdrawal of nominations can be done until March 30.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale has directed District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police to maintain law and order during the elections. Surveillance teams have been vigilant in monitoring illegal transportation and storage of money and goods since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, surveillance teams have seized cash totaling Rs 47.55 lakh, along with 3896 liters of illicit liquor valued at Rs 8.87 lakh. Additionally, 195 kg of drugs worth Rs 73.17 lakh and 840 grams of precious jewelry and gems valued at Rs 51.90 lakh have been confiscated. Other seized materials amount to over Rs 21.71 lakh.
