Adani Total Gas Commences Production at Barsana Biogas Project

* India’s Largest Agri Waste-based Bio-CNG Plant Sets Green Benchmark

TFP Bureau, Ahmedabad; April 1, 2024: Adani TotalEnergies Biomass Limited (ATBL), a subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), has announced the commencement of operations at phase 1 of its Barsana Biogas Plant, located in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. Situated within the premises of Shre Mataji Gaushala, the project marks a significant stride towards renewable energy production.

Upon stabilization of phase 1, the Barsana Biogas Project will process approximately 225 tons per day (TPD) of agriculture waste and cattle dung, generating 10 TPD of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG). In addition to curbing pollution from stubble burning, the plant will produce eco-friendly bio-CNG and organic fertilizer, contributing to environmental sustainability and agricultural prosperity.

Mr. Suresh P Manglani, Executive Director & CEO of ATGL, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating,

“The Barsana Biogas Plant reflects our commitment to harnessing renewable resources for a cleaner, more sustainable future. By leveraging advanced anaerobic digestion technology, we aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote fuel security, aligning with our broader sustainability goals.”

The project, with a total capacity of 600 TPD of feedstock and over 42 TPD of CBG, underscores ATGL’s dedication to renewable energy development. With a projected cost exceeding Rs. 200 crore for all three phases, the Barsana Biogas Plant is poised to become India’s largest agri waste-based bio-CNG facility upon completion of phase 3.
