National Level Essay Competition Culminates in Thought-Provoking Publication

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 7, 2024 – The Hidayatullah National Law University Press unveiled the publication ‘Student Essays on Law & Sciences,’ an edited collection of student essays, with the distinguished presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India. The release event, held on last Saturday, also saw the participation of esteemed guests including Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Shri Prafull Bharat, Advocate-General of Chhattisgarh, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor, IILM University, Shri Rajneesh Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Law and Legal Affairs Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, and Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor, HNLU Raipur, alongside EC members and faculties.

The book marks the culmination of a National Level Essay Writing Competition organized by HNLU’s Centre for Law & Sciences and Centre for Privacy & Data Protection, under the theme ‘Is Law the Ultimate Science?’ Students from across the nation engaged in thoughtful exploration and discourse on the intricate intersections between legal studies and the scientific realm. The standout essays from the competition, chosen for their depth and insight, have been skillfully compiled in this edited volume, offering readers fresh perspectives on the evolving relationship between these vital fields of study.

The publication features selected essays from the recent competition, with cash prizes awarded to standout participants. Ms. Rhythm Sharma and Ms. Saumya Soni emerged as the First and Second Runners-Up, respectively, earning cash prizes of Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 7,500/-. Mr. Aditya Bhura secured the Second Runner-Up position, receiving a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-.

Dr. Debmita Mondal and Dr. Priyanka Dhar, Heads of the Centre for Law & Science and the Centre for Privacy & Data Protection at HNLU, served as editors for the book, meticulously curating the essays to offer readers a comprehensive and insightful exploration of the themes addressed in the competition.
