Chief Electoral Officer Launches Bike Rally to Boost Voter Awareness in Urban Areas

Efforts intensify to enhance voter turnout for Lok Sabha Elections-202

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 11, 2024: In a concerted effort to raise voter awareness and boost turnout in urban areas for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale flagged off a spirited bike rally and sweep express today in Raipur district. The initiative aims to mobilize citizens to exercise their franchise on polling day.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale emphasized the critical importance of increasing voter participation, particularly in urban constituencies. She underscored the need for intensified efforts to achieve higher voter turnout compared to previous elections, urging all eligible voters to actively participate in the democratic process.

Mrs. Kangale commended the Raipur district administration’s initiative to promote voting through the bike rally, emphasizing the significance of civic engagement and responsible voting. Reflecting on the commendable efforts of women workers during the last assembly elections, she expressed confidence in their enthusiastic participation in the upcoming polls.

During the bike rally, which traversed through key locations including Collectorate complex, Akashvani Chowk, White House, Shyam Talkies, Lily Chowk, and Vivekananda Ashram, Mrs. Kangale led the charge on an e-scooter iCube adorned with a placard reading ‘Election Parv, Desh ka Parv’. Joining her were Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Avinash Mishra, demonstrating solidarity in promoting voter awareness.

Following the rally, a vibrant program unfolded at Nalanda campus, featuring a voter-awareness-themed Zumba performance by AIG Shri Sanjay Sharma and his team. Shri Tejram Sahu enthralled the audience with a captivating folk dance, underscoring the importance of casting votes. As a token of appreciation, books based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda were presented to the participating artists.

The sweep express, adorned with voter awareness posters and manned by enthusiastic officers and employees, resonated with slogans such as ‘It is our responsibility, we will vote one by one’, ‘Vote Devav Banav Responsibility’, and ‘Dai, Bhai, Didi Jammo Sangwari’. Participants, dressed in traditional Chhattisgarhi attire, lent a colorful and spirited atmosphere to the rally.

It is pertinent to mention that voting for the Raipur Lok Sabha constituency under the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will take place on May 7 as part of the third phase of polling in the state. The bike rally and sweep express underscore the collective commitment to fostering active citizen participation and strengthening democratic values.
