TFP Bureau, Korba; May 2, 2024: Bharat Aluminum Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta group company, spearheaded a voter awareness campaign at Ambedkar Stadium aimed at fostering a culture of electoral participation. The event, part of a broader sweep initiative, saw the presence of esteemed guests including CEO District Panchayat, Korba, and Sweep Nodal Officer Mr. Sambit Mishra, along with Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Korba Mrs. Pratishtha Mamgai.
The campaign commenced with an address by Shri Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, underscoring the significance of civic duty. Street plays were staged to engage and educate attendees on the importance of voting.
With the participation of around 600 Balco employees and community members, the event showcased BALCO’s collaborative efforts with the district administration to promote voter awareness. Initiatives ranged from video screenings within the plant premises to audio announcements at the Parsabhata gate and through the company’s daily magazine, BALCO Today. Furthermore, awareness messages were disseminated through banners, flex, and mobile vehicles in the community.
In his address, SVEEP Nodal Officer Mr. Sambit Mishra emphasized the constitutional right to vote and urged enthusiastic participation in the democratic process. He rallied attendees to exercise their voting rights on May 7th and encouraged them to motivate others in their communities to do the same.
Mrs. Pratishtha Mamgai applauded the active involvement of children in raising voter awareness and administered an oath to ensure fair voting practices. She underscored the importance of voting and urged attendees to inspire others by sharing the significance of democratic participation.
BALCO CEO and Director Shri Rajesh Kumar reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting awareness about voting rights and emphasized the role of every citizen in nation-building. He called for 100% voter turnout, highlighting its critical importance for the country’s progress. On the occasion of World Labor Day, he urged child laborers to contribute to India’s democracy by exercising their voting rights, mirroring their dedication to advancing the company’s goals.
