Section 144 Extended in Balodabazar City Until June 20

Collector and District Magistrate Issue Order to Maintain Peace

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 17, 2024: The Collector and District Magistrate of Balodabazar have extended the imposition of Section 144 in the Municipal Corporation Balodabazar border area until midnight on June 20, 2024. This measure, initially enacted on June 10 following an incident in the Joint District Office premises, aims to maintain peace and order in the region.

Collector and District Magistrate Shri Deepak Soni issued the extension order, invoking powers under Section 144 (1) and (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The order prohibits any rallies or processions within the Balodabazar Municipality boundary area and restricts the entry of groups of five or more people from other districts. The carrying of weapons in public places is also banned, with exceptions for those on government duty and elderly or disabled persons who require a stick for mobility.

The initial imposition of Section 144 was in effect from 9 pm on June 10 to 12 midnight on June 16. This extension aims to ensure continued peace and prevent any further disturbances in the area.
