TFP Bureau, New Delhi, June 17, 2024: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, chaired a high-level meeting today in New Delhi to review the security situation in Manipur. The meeting included key officials such as Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Chief of Army Staff (Designate) Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior officials from the Army and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
During the meeting, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the strategic deployment of central forces to restore peace and tranquility in Manipur, stating that forces would be increased if necessary. He directed that strict legal action be taken against those involved in violence.
Shri Shah assured that the Government of India, under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, is fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Manipur. He also reviewed the conditions in relief camps, stressing the need for adequate food, water, medicines, and other basic amenities. The Home Minister instructed the Chief Secretary of Manipur to provide proper health and education facilities for the displaced and ensure their rehabilitation.
Addressing the ongoing ethnic conflict, Shri Shah underscored the importance of a coordinated approach and announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs will engage with both the Meitei and Kuki communities to bridge the ethnic divide as swiftly as possible. The Government of India continues to actively support the Manipur Government in strengthening the state’s security situation.
