Central Finance Commission Arrives in Raipur for Four-Day Visit

Warm Welcome Extended to Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya and Delegation at Swami Vivekananda Airport

TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 10, 2024 – The 16th Central Finance Commission, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, arrived at Swami Vivekananda Airport today for a comprehensive four-day visit to Chhattisgarh. Accompanying him are Commission members Mr. Ajay Narayan Jha, Mrs. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Secretary Mr. Ritwik Pandey, Joint Secretary Mr. Kamal Kumar Mishra, Joint Director Mr. Raghavendra Singh, and other officials.

The delegation received a warm reception from dignitaries including Finance Department Secretary Mr. Mukesh Bansal, NRDA CEO Mr. Saurabh Kumar, State Election Commission Secretary Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure, MD CGMSC Mrs. Padmini Bhoi, and Raipur Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh. The guests were greeted with traditional state towels and presented flower bouquets as a gesture of hospitality.

According to the itinerary, on July 11, the Central Finance Commission will meet with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at 10 am to discuss various financial matters in the Ministry chambers. Following this, at 10:25 am, a meeting will be held at Mahanadi Bhawan, where Chief Minister Shri Sai will address the Commission and present the state’s financial situation.

Later that day, from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, discussions are scheduled with representatives from Panchayat Raj institutions, urban bodies, and political parties at Hotel Mayfair. On July 12, there will be engagements with industry and commerce organizations at the same venue from 9:15 am to 10 am, followed by a visit to Naya Raipur from 10 am to 12 noon.

The delegation will then proceed to Jagdalpur, where they will stay overnight and conduct meetings with Panchayat representatives at the Jagdalpur Circuit House on July 13.

The visit of the Central Finance Commission aims to assess the state’s financial needs and engage with various stakeholders to ensure equitable development across Chhattisgarh.
