PM-eBus Sewa to cover Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg-Bhilai and Korba; 20 buses each planned for Bilaspur and Bhilai in November<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 11, 2026: Chhattisgarh has taken a step towards modernising urban public transport with the signing of a concession agreement for the deployment of 240 electric buses across Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg-Bhilai and Korba under the PM-eBus Sewa scheme.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed on Sunday between the four municipal corporations and selected operator Chartered Speed Limited in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Sao at his residence-office in Nava Raipur. The state government is preparing to launch 20 electric buses each in Bilaspur and Bhilai in November 2026.<\/p>\n

Addressing the ceremony, Sao said the initiative would help develop a cleaner and more efficient public transport system while reducing dependence on conventional fuels, air pollution and noise. He said improved connectivity to educational institutions, hospitals, tourist destinations and other important locations would make public transport more convenient for residents.<\/p>\n

He added that effective coordination among departments and timely implementation would be essential to ensure the scheme benefits citizens.<\/p>\n

100 buses planned for Raipur<\/h3>\n

Under the first-phase plan, 100 electric buses will operate in Raipur, 50 each in Bilaspur and Durg-Bhilai, and 40 in Korba. The proposed deployment across the four urban areas totals 240 buses.<\/p>\n

The buses will be equipped with six cameras each to strengthen passenger safety. Route information will also be available through a mobile application, while mobile scanner-based payment and online ticketing facilities are planned to make travel more convenient.<\/p>\n

The initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions and support the development of charging stations, depots and maintenance centres. These facilities are also expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure development and timely execution stressed<\/h3>\n

Urban Administration and Development Department Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah outlined the scheme\u2019s objectives and operational preparations. He said the growing urban population had increased the need for modern public transport and stressed that supporting infrastructure, including charging systems, depots, bus stops and maintenance centres, must be developed on schedule.<\/p>\n

He also called for coordination among the departments and agencies involved to ensure that operational preparations were completed within the stipulated timeframe.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Urban Administration Department Director Nilesh Mahadev Kshirsagar, State Urban Development Agency Chief Executive Officer Sumeet Agrawal and Chartered Speed Limited Managing Director Pankaj Gandhi attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Mayors attend agreement signing<\/h3>\n

The event was attended by Raipur Mayor Meenal Chaubey, Bilaspur Mayor Pooja Vidhani, Korba Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, Durg Mayor Alka Baghmar and Birgaon Mayor Nandlal Dewangan.<\/p>\n

Municipal commissioners Sambit Mishra of Raipur, Prakash Kumar Surve of Bilaspur, Ashutosh Pandey of Korba and Suruchi Singh of Bhilai were also present, along with Durg Commissioner Leena Kosam, Risali Commissioner Monika Verma and Bhilai-Charoda Commissioner Dashrath Singh Rajput.<\/p>\n

The colour schemes and cut-outs of the electric buses proposed for the four urban areas were unveiled at the event. Urban Administration Department Chief Engineer Rajesh Sharma, Superintending Engineer Sunil Singh and SUDA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sunil Agrahari were among the other officials present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
