TFP Bureau, Mumbai, April 23, 2025: In a major boost to its industrial ambitions, the Chhattisgarh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) during the FAB Show 2025 held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. The partnership is set to pave the way for Chhattisgarh\u2019s emergence as a prominent textile and apparel manufacturing hub.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, attending the show, urged textile entrepreneurs from across the country to invest in Chhattisgarh, emphasizing the state\u2019s investor-friendly ecosystem, robust infrastructure, and progressive industrial policies. “We are not just focused on ease of doing business, but speed of doing business,” the CM asserted, noting that over 350 reforms have been implemented to streamline investments.<\/p>\n

The MoU includes the establishment of a CMAI Textile and Apparel Facilitation Centre in Raipur, which the Chief Minister described as a milestone that will generate significant employment and bolster the textile ecosystem. He also highlighted the recent approval for a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Nava Raipur, with a projected investment of Rs 271 crore, aimed at advancing skill development and design innovation.<\/p>\n

Sai spotlighted the rich heritage of Chhattisgarh\u2019s handloom sector, particularly the kosa silk of Bastar and Surguja, and said the government is committed to promoting branding and global reach for these traditional products. “With institutions like NIFT and the support of CMAI, our traditional handlooms will get the platform they deserve,” he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The CM outlined key incentives under the state’s new industrial policy, including special benefits for MSMEs and units that employ over 1,000 local workers. Enterprises investing Rs 100 crore can receive reimbursements of up to Rs 252 crore\u2014benefits unmatched by any other state, he claimed. Special incentives are also offered for companies setting up operations in tribal regions.<\/p>\n

Highlighting Chhattisgarh\u2019s strategic advantages, Sai noted the availability of surplus water and power, enhanced logistics through cargo facilities at Raipur Airport, and ongoing infrastructure projects including Rs 48,000 crore worth of railway developments and the Raipur\u2013Visakhapatnam Expressway, which will offer direct access to major ports.<\/p>\n

With institutions like IIT, IIM, and IIIT already functioning in the state, and advanced courses now introduced in ITIs, the Chief Minister stressed the availability of a steady pipeline of skilled manpower.<\/p>\n

Inviting investors to be a part of Chhattisgarh\u2019s growth story, he said, \u201cWe are fully committed to supporting every textile entrepreneur who wants to grow with Chhattisgarh. Your success will be our progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to CM Subodh Singh, Industries Secretary Rajat Kumar, and other senior government officials.
