TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 26, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has reiterated the state government’s commitment to elevating Chhattisgarh’s universities and colleges to the top 100 educational institutions in the country. In a review meeting of the Higher Education Department, Shri Sai stressed the importance of improving educational standards to make Chhattisgarh a preferred destination for students nationwide, thereby enhancing the state\u2019s educational image on the national stage.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister highlighted that with the right focus on quality, students from other states would also choose Chhattisgarh for their studies. He directed that in districts like Korba, Dantewada, and Raigarh, where there are sufficient District Mineral Fund (DMF) resources, certain colleges should be developed as national model institutions for specific subjects. These colleges, he suggested, should attract students not only from Chhattisgarh but from across the country and beyond.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai also emphasized the need for adopting the ‘Professor of Practice’ policy as part of the new National Education Policy. By bringing in renowned experts from various fields to teach, students would benefit from practical insights and current industry knowledge. In addition, he instructed that special strategies should be put in place to make Indira Kala Sangeet University in Khairagarh globally recognized.<\/p>\n
Key Educational Reforms and Future Plans<\/strong><\/p>\n Secretary of Higher Education, Dr. Bharatidasan, provided an overview of the department\u2019s activities, including updates on the Pradhan Mantri Usha Yojana. Under this, Bastar University has received Rs. 100 crore as part of the Meru Yojana for Multidisciplinary Education and Research. He also outlined the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, which is now in effect at seven government and 17 private universities, along with 335 government and 321 private colleges across the state starting from the 2024-25 academic session.<\/p>\n The review also covered progress under the RUSA 1.0 and 2.0 schemes, faculty promotions, and ongoing recruitment efforts by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and Vyapam. Dr. Bharatidasan also outlined future action plans focused on upskilling, promoting employment-oriented courses, and fostering skill-based entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n This forward-thinking approach is set to further strengthen Chhattisgarh\u2019s educational infrastructure, making it an emerging national education hub.
