TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 28, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai on Monday conducted a comprehensive review of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department at Mahanadi Bhawan, emphasizing that strengthening Panchayats and ensuring development reaches the last mile remains the government\u2019s top priority. “Panchayats are the first link in our development journey,” he said, urging officials to ensure effective implementation of all rural development schemes.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the Prime Minister\u2019s vision of providing pucca houses to every poor family, Chief Minister Sai called for the timely completion of housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Expressing satisfaction over the completion of surveys for more than 20 lakh families under the \u201cMore Door-Sai Sarkar\u201d campaign, he insisted on real-time monitoring and strict quality control in construction, especially for special backward tribal groups under the PM Janman Yojana.<\/p>\n
Reviewing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) activities, Sai stressed the importance of creating maximum employment opportunities while maintaining quality. He also directed the launch of a detailed action plan for the “More Village More Water” mega campaign, utilizing GIS technology for groundwater recharge and watershed development.<\/p>\n
Support for Rural Youth and Infrastructure Development<\/strong><\/p>\n The Chief Minister reviewed various schemes including the 15th Finance Commission grants, National Gram Swaraj Yojana, Mahtari Sadan, District and Janpad Panchayat Development Funds, the Chief Minister\u2019s Comprehensive Rural Development Scheme, and the Swami Vivekananda Youth Promotion Scheme. He also discussed initiatives to reward outstanding Panchayati Raj representatives to foster healthy competition.<\/p>\n The Niyyad Nellnar Yojana, which aims to boost employment in tribal areas, has created 6,324 new MNREGA job cards and provided first-time employment to 3,134 beneficiaries across Bastar division. Sai expressed satisfaction with the program’s progress and called for more exposure visits for tribal youth under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Protsahan Yojana.<\/p>\n During the session, the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Stressing that road connectivity is vital for rural development, he instructed that construction, repair, and maintenance of rural roads \u2014 covering over 42,000 kilometers \u2014 must be completed within deadlines while maintaining quality standards.<\/p>\n Empowering Rural Women and Enhancing Cleanliness<\/strong><\/p>\n Chief Minister Sai praised the success of the \u2018Lakhpati Didi\u2019 initiative under the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, which empowers rural women through self-help groups engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, and small enterprises. He noted that efforts are underway to link women\u2019s products with state-level fairs and online platforms to boost their incomes.<\/p>\n Reviewing the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, Sai assessed ongoing campaigns on solid and liquid waste management, waste disposal, and public awareness drives.
