TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 30, 2025:<\/strong>\u00a0Public Works Department Secretary Dr. Kamalpreet Singh has emphasized the urgent need to complete road and bridge construction works across Bastar Division within stipulated timelines, citing connectivity as a key priority for the state government. During a high-level review meeting held in Jagdalpur, Dr. Singh directed officials to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed as per contractual deadlines and technical standards.<\/p>\n

Dr. Singh issued a stern warning against contractors who fail to deliver, instructing officials to take punitive action against those delaying projects, including blacklisting those who abandon work. \u201cProjects must move in mission mode with full resource planning and timely execution. Those not complying with contract terms will face consequences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Focus on Critical Infrastructure and Safety<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Singh urged faster construction of national highways and repair of aging state roads\u2014especially those over ten years old\u2014as well as feeder roads linked to the Bharatmala project. He stressed that access roads to bridges must be completed before monsoon season to ensure local connectivity is not disrupted.<\/p>\n

In addition, the secretary ordered strict adherence to road safety norms. Officials were instructed to identify accident-prone areas and install indicators, blinkers, dividers, and speed breakers. He also called for road safety to be built into all new construction plans from the design stage.<\/p>\n

Right Site Selection and Resource Management<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emphasizing optimal use of public resources, Dr. Singh advised that new building construction should take place on properly identified sites in consultation with local authorities. Basic infrastructure\u2014such as roads, electricity, and water\u2014must be ensured before building begins.<\/p>\n

Contractors were also instructed to take on projects in line with their actual capacity. Dr. Singh directed officials to assess availability of key resources like machinery and labor before assigning multiple works to a single contractor.<\/p>\n

Progress Reviewed on Major Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting also reviewed the status of major infrastructure schemes, including RRP Phase-I and RCPLWEA, and progress of projects listed in the 2025\u201326 state budget. Dr. Singh called for improved field-level monitoring to maintain construction quality and pace.<\/p>\n

Senior officials present included Chief Engineers Mr. V.K. Bhatpahari (PWD), Mr. G.R. Raote (Bastar Zone), Mr. S.K. Kori (Bridges), and Mr. T.R.
