TFP Bureau Raipur, June 1, 2025: In a major step to reform and strengthen the state\u2019s education system, the Chhattisgarh government has announced the phased recruitment of teachers, with 5,000 new appointments slated for the first phase. The decision aims to address the ongoing teacher shortage, especially in rural areas, and ensure delivery of quality education across all regions.<\/p>\n
Preparations for the recruitment process are already underway at the departmental level. The recruitment will be carried out after completing the rationalization of schools and teachers \u2014 a key initiative being undertaken by the state government to balance resources and improve the teacher-student ratio.<\/p>\n
The rationalization exercise involves reallocating teachers from schools with excess staff but low or no student enrollment to institutions grappling with acute teacher shortages. This move is intended to reduce the number of teacherless and single-teacher schools, particularly in rural areas, and ensure students have access to subject-specific, qualified teachers.<\/p>\n
Current Situation Reflects Imbalance<\/strong><\/p>\n Data from the education department highlights significant disparities:<\/p>\n At the same time, there are 245 schools where the ratio exceeds 40, indicating a clear need for redistribution. The rationalization is expected to optimize infrastructure use as well. For example, integrating primary to higher secondary levels on a single campus will allow for continuity in education without repeated admissions and will reduce student dropout rates.<\/p>\n No Impact on Learning During School Adjustment<\/strong><\/p>\n Out of 10,463 government schools in Chhattisgarh, only 166 are being adjusted under the rationalization plan. This includes 133 rural schools with fewer than 10 students and a nearby functioning school within 1 km, and 33 urban schools with fewer than 30 students and another school within 500 meters. The government has assured that these adjustments will not disrupt ongoing learning.<\/p>\n Better Facilities, More Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n Rationalization will allow students access to better infrastructure, such as libraries, labs, and computer facilities.
