TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 16, 2025: The Chhattisgarh Congress has raised serious allegations over the ongoing \u201cRice Festival\u201d being organized by the state government, claiming large-scale irregularities in the public distribution system (PDS). Senior Congress spokesperson Dhananjay Singh Thakur has questioned the intent and transparency of the scheme, alleging that rice meant for distribution is being illegally sold from ration shops after obtaining thumb impressions from beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat kind of rice festival is this where ration shop owners are giving cash instead of rice? Who is buying the rice being sold inside these shops? Where is this rice being diverted?\u201d<\/em> asked Thakur. He demanded an investigation into the alleged transactions and accused the government of running the scheme only through advertisements.<\/p>\n Thakur claimed that only 33 percent of beneficiaries have received rice so far\u2014and even that, he alleged, exists \u201conly on paper.\u201d He further warned that the pattern of complaints and manipulation suggests a scam potentially \u201cbigger than the previous NAN scam.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Referring to past controversies, Thakur said, \u201cRice scams have become routine under BJP governments. Fifteen years ago, the NAN scam worth over \u20b936,000 crore occurred under their watch.
