TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 27, 2025:\u00a0Chhattisgarh is witnessing an unprecedented transformation in its railway infrastructure, with development projects worth \u20b947,000 crore currently underway. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, these initiatives aim to double the state’s rail network from 1,100 to 2,200 route kilometers by 2030, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of a developed India and developed Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n
The 2025\u201326 Union Budget has allocated \u20b96,925 crore for railway development in the state, paving the way for major infrastructure upgrades, new routes, and world-class station facilities. Two new Vande Bharat trains \u2014 Raipur\u2013Visakhapatnam and Raipur\u2013Nagpur \u2014 have already been introduced, and the state government is also planning a metro train survey.<\/p>\n
32 Stations to Get Global-Standard Facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme<\/strong>, 32 railway stations in Chhattisgarh are being revamped with modern, world-class passenger amenities. Prime Minister Modi recently inaugurated five redeveloped stations \u2014 Ambikapur, Urkura, Bhilai, Bhanupratappur, and Dongargarh.<\/p>\n The redevelopment effort includes major overhauls of Bilaspur (\u20b9435 crore), Raipur (\u20b9463 crore), and Durg (\u20b9456 crore) stations, contributing to a total investment of approximately \u20b91,680 crore. Other stations undergoing transformation include Bhatapara, Bhilai Nagar, Uslapur, Jagdalpur, Korba, and more \u2014 reinforcing Chhattisgarh\u2019s status as a rising transport hub.<\/p>\n Ongoing Rail Projects Worth Thousands of Crores<\/strong><\/p>\n Multiple large-scale railway projects are currently under construction:<\/p>\n New Rail Project to Boost Bastar\u2019s Development<\/strong><\/p>\n In a major boost to the Bastar region, the Raoghat\u2013Jagdalpur new rail line (140 km)<\/strong> has been approved with an investment of \u20b93,513 crore. This line is expected to revolutionize connectivity and fuel tourism, trade, employment, and anti-Naxal efforts in the region. Simultaneously, the doubling of the KK Line (Kotvalsa\u2013Kirandul)<\/strong> is progressing rapidly, with 148 km completed out of 170 km within Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n Rail Connectivity Expands to Remote Tribal Regions<\/strong><\/p>\n The final location survey for the proposed Kothagudem (Telangana)\u2013Kirandul (Chhattisgarh)<\/strong> rail line is nearing completion.
