TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 4, 2025: Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary has put forth a strong case for nationwide reforms in GST administration, emphasizing the urgent need to crack down on bogus registrations and fake invoices. He was speaking at a high-level meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on GST revenue collection held in New Delhi on Friday.<\/p>\n
The GoM, chaired by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod P. Sawant, met to deliberate on strategies for enhancing transparency, technological integration, and operational efficiency in GST systems across the country.<\/p>\n
Participating as a member of the GoM, Mr. Choudhary presented a detailed account of Chhattisgarh\u2019s policy interventions, highlighting how advanced data analytics and AI tools have been used effectively to detect irregularities, improve compliance, and safeguard genuine taxpayers in the state. These steps, he noted, have led to a significant increase in Chhattisgarh\u2019s GST revenue.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur state has embraced a data-first approach under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Through regular reviews and technology-driven decision-making, we have built an efficient and transparent GST framework,\u201d said Mr. Choudhary, adding that Chhattisgarh\u2019s model can serve as a blueprint for other states.<\/p>\n
The meeting featured presentations on national platforms such as BIFA, GST Prime, and the e-Way Bill portal. Mr. Choudhary strongly advocated for uniform implementation of these digital systems to facilitate early detection and action against tax fraud.<\/p>\n
He also proposed the creation of a centralized digital mechanism to streamline registrations, monitor invoice trails, and prevent fraudulent claims of input tax credit. \u201cSuch reforms will not only plug revenue leakages but also reinforce trust among honest taxpayers,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
Finance ministers from other states also shared insights into local revenue trends and challenges. The discussions aimed at building consensus for a unified national framework to drive sustainable growth in GST collections.<\/p>\n
