TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 11, 2025: A one-day training workshop on sensitization was successfully conducted by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Raipur, focusing on enhancing the knowledge and skills of officials from the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department and the Metrology Department. The program was chaired by Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department.<\/p>\n
Shri S.K. Gupta, Director and Head of the BIS Raipur Branch Office, outlined the objectives and structure of the workshop to the Secretary. The session included a detailed presentation by Shri Falendra Kumar, Joint Director of the Raipur Branch Office, highlighting the standard-setting processes, committee compositions, public participation in drafting standards, and certification schemes such as the ISI Mark and CRS Scheme for electronic products.<\/p>\n
Officials were also acquainted with mandatory certification orders, methods to identify ISI and CRS marks, and procedures for searching and downloading standards via BIS\u2019s “Know Your Standards” portal. The workshop emphasized compliance with Quality Control Orders (QCO) and certification inspections relevant to tender preparations in departmental purchases.<\/p>\n
Additional sessions covered the availability of certified laboratories in the state for product testing, as well as the hallmarking process for gold and silver jewelry. Officials learned to verify hallmark authenticity using the HUID number, locate hallmarking centers, and understand online testing facilities for consumer convenience.<\/p>\n
Participants were introduced to the “Standards Watch” tool and the BIS\u2019s educational initiatives through the Standards Club and MoU partnership models, reinforcing BIS\u2019s role in capacity building and consumer awareness.<\/p>\n
