TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 28, 2025: In a spectacular display of devotion and cultural reverence, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai showered flowers from a helicopter over thousands of Kanwariyas and Shiva devotees gathered at the historic Baba Bhoramdeo Temple on the third Monday of Sawan. The aerial tribute marked the second consecutive year the CM personally welcomed pilgrims with this unique gesture at the revered religious site known for its spiritual and archaeological significance.<\/p>\n
The event saw the presence of Speaker Dr. Raman Singh and Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, who joined the Chief Minister in performing Vedic rituals, prayers, and Rudrabhishek at the temple, invoking blessings for peace and prosperity across the state.<\/p>\n
Expressing deep admiration for the devotees\u2019 faith, CM Sai said, \u201cTo stand here among thousands of Kanwariyas, many of whom have journeyed hundreds of kilometres on foot, is a testament to our rich traditions and spiritual heritage.\u201d He warmly interacted with pilgrims and honored Pandariya MLA Bhavna Bohra, who walked 151 kilometres from Amarkantak to perform the sacred Jalabhishek, presenting her with a saffron robe and shriphal as a mark of respect.<\/p>\n
Highlighting future developments, CM Sai announced the approval of a \u20b9146 crore Bhoramdeo Corridor Development Project under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana 2.0. The ambitious project aims to enhance the temple complex and create a connected spiritual-tourism corridor linking heritage sites such as Madwa Mahal, Cherki Mahal, Ramchuwa, and the Saroda reservoir. He also revealed plans underway to establish a pilgrim rest facility on five acres of land in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, to support devotees traveling between Chhattisgarh and Amarkantak.<\/p>\n
The month of Sawan holds special significance for devotees who undertake the sacred ritual of Jalabhishek to Lord Shiva. The 11th-century Bhoramdeo Temple, nestled near Kawardha, attracts thousands from across the region, including districts like Kabirdham, Mungeli, and Rajnandgaon, as well as from Madhya Pradesh\u2019s Amarkantak. Pilgrims carry holy water from the Narmada River, braving long, rugged journeys in saffron attire, chanting devotional hymns like \u201cBol Bam\u201d to perform rituals at ancient Shiva shrines including Bhoramdeo and Jaleshwar Mahadev.<\/p>\n
