<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, August 6, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed officials of the Water Resources Department to expedite the completion of ongoing irrigation projects in Chhattisgarh, with a special focus on schemes pending since before 2015. Chairing a high-level review meeting at Mahanadi Bhavan, Mantralaya, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need for a concrete action plan to speed up execution and enhance water availability for the state\u2019s farming community.<\/p>\n
Stating that Chhattisgarh is primarily an agrarian state, CM Sai expressed concern that delays in irrigation infrastructure projects were adversely affecting farmers. He noted that the prolonged completion timelines are limiting the benefits of government schemes meant to improve agricultural output and income.<\/p>\n
\u201cTimely execution of water projects is essential to increase irrigated land area and ensure farmers receive their due share of resources,\u201d he said, stressing that enhanced irrigation coverage would lead to better crop yields, improved rural livelihoods, and greater food security.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister also underlined that strengthening irrigation infrastructure is key to unlocking the full potential of agriculture in Chhattisgarh. He directed that all pending projects be closely monitored and completed at the earliest through better planning, coordination, and on-ground execution.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Water Resources Secretary Rajesh Sukumar Toppo delivered a comprehensive presentation on the current status of various irrigation projects being undertaken across the state. He highlighted the progress of key initiatives and identified bottlenecks delaying their completion.<\/p>\n

Water Resources Minister Kedar Kashyap, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretaries to the CM P. Dayanand and Rahul Bhagat, Joint Secretary Dr. Ravi Mittal, and Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department Indrajeet Uike were among the senior officials present at the review meeting.<\/p>\n
