TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 12, 2025 \u2013 Across Chhattisgarh, rooftops are turning into miniature power plants as households embrace the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme. From Raigarh to Korba, families are generating their own electricity, slashing monthly bills, and contributing to environmental protection through clean, renewable energy.<\/p>\n

In Raigarh\u2019s Savitri Nagar, resident Pradeep Patel<\/strong> installed a 3-kilowatt rooftop solar panel under the scheme, receiving subsidies of \u20b978,000 from the Centre and \u20b930,000 from the state\u2014a total of \u20b91.08 lakh\u2014transferred within just 10 days of applying. Now producing 350\u2013400 units of power each month against an average consumption of 500 units, Patel\u2019s electricity bill has dropped to less than one-third of what it used to be. \u201cI urge everyone to take advantage of this scheme,\u201d he said, praising its quick and transparent process.<\/p>\n

Similarly, in Korba\u2019s Housing Board Colony, Shankar Puri<\/strong> transformed his home with a 3-kilowatt rooftop system. Along with the same central subsidy, he is set to receive an additional \u20b930,000 from the state government. His installation not only covers most of his household energy needs but also reduces carbon emissions by an estimated 3.5 tons annually. \u201cThis is more than savings\u2014it\u2019s my contribution to a cleaner future,\u201d Puri said, calling the scheme a \u201cprofitable investment\u201d for both families and the planet.<\/p>\n

According to the Directorate of Public Instruction, 197 households in Raigarh district alone<\/strong> have already adopted rooftop solar systems under the scheme, with each family saving between \u20b93,000 and \u20b95,000 per month. Depending on capacity, a 1-kilowatt system can generate about 120 units monthly, with subsidies of \u20b930,000 from the Centre and \u20b915,000 from the state; larger systems bring proportionally higher output and support.<\/p>\n

Applications for the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme can be made entirely online via the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in<\/a>, the PM Suryaghar mobile app, CSPDCL\u2019s website and \u201cMore Bijli\u201d app, or by calling toll-free 1912. Beneficiaries can also select their own vendors for installation.<\/p>\n

Officials say the scheme is doing more than reducing household bills\u2014it is creating a community of energy self-reliant citizens while pushing Chhattisgarh closer to its clean energy goals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
