TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 14, 2025 \u2013 The long-awaited Dallirajhara\u2013Raoghat rail project, a vital link for Chhattisgarh\u2019s Bastar region, is in its final phase and is expected to be completed by December this year. Of the 95-km-long corridor, the 77.5 km Taroki\u2013Raoghat section has seen major progress with track laying, utility shifting and bridge construction almost finished.<\/p>\n
Once operational, Bastar will be directly connected to Raipur by rail for the first time, significantly easing passenger travel and providing a major push to mineral transportation. The line will also link Raoghat\u2019s iron ore mines with the Bhilai Steel Plant, addressing falling ore availability from Dallirajhara and strengthening the state\u2019s industrial supply chain.<\/p>\n
According to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, most of the 21.94 lakh cubic meters of earthwork is complete, 55 of 61 minor bridges are ready, and two of the three major bridges have been finished. Ballast procurement and building works are likely to wrap up by September.<\/p>\n
The \u20b95,800-crore project involves construction of 16 major bridges, 19 road overbridges, 45 road underpasses and 176 minor bridges. Despite facing challenges from Left Wing Extremism\u2014including 12 Naxal attacks that led to the deaths of four workers and two security personnel\u2014the project has advanced steadily under SSB protection.<\/p>\n
Officials said the new line will not only ease mineral transport but also open fresh opportunities for local trade, employment and investment. \u201cThis will be a game-changer for Bastar\u2019s economy and infrastructure,\u201d said a senior railway official, adding that train services on the Taroki\u2013Raoghat stretch are expected to begin by December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
