TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 11, 2025\/ Chhattisgarh is among the leading states in the country in terms of power generation. Under the Prime Minister Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the target is to install solar panels on rooftops of 1.3 lakh houses across the state by March 2027, but our effort is to extend it further to 5 lakh rooftops. Under this scheme, consumers are being given major subsidies. For installing solar plants ranging from 1 kW to 3 kW capacity, central assistance of \u20b930,000 to \u20b978,000 is being directly transferred to bank accounts. Along with this, the Chhattisgarh government is also providing additional subsidy. As a result, consumers are receiving up to 75% subsidy on the total cost. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said this while addressing the 97th National Conference of the \u201cForum of Regulators\u201d held in Nava Raipur.<\/p>\n
CM Sai said that today we are celebrating the silver jubilee year of our state\u2019s formation. In these 25 years, our production capacity has reached nearly 30,000 MW. With the participation of the state sector, private sector and central sector, more than 30,000 MW of power is being generated from the soil of Chhattisgarh today. Recently, we have signed MoUs for the establishment of power plants with capacity of more than 32,000 MW. These include thermal, pump storage, nuclear, battery storage and solar power projects. Our aim in the coming years is to become a state producing more than 60,000 MW of power.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister further said that in terms of per capita power consumption, Chhattisgarh is far ahead of the country\u2019s average. Here the consumption is 2,211 units, while the national average is only 1,255 units. Chhattisgarh is producing more electricity than its own requirement and is making a significant contribution to the development of the country. We are supplying electricity not only to our state but also to neighbouring states.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said that just two days ago, in the Cabinet meeting, we approved an amendment to the policy promoting solar energy which will remain in force till 2030. Under this, renewable energy projects have been given priority in the industrial policy.<\/p>\n
Expressing gratitude to the chairpersons, office bearers and experts of electricity regulatory commissions from different states of the country, the Chief Minister said that the in-depth deliberations on the progress of the energy sector will bring long-term benefits for consumers as well as all of us. He also expressed special thanks for choosing Chhattisgarh as the venue for this important event.<\/p>\n
