TFP Bureau, Bhavnagar, September 19, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a day-long visit to Gujarat on September 20, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 34,200 crore. The projects, spanning across the maritime sector, renewable energy, LNG infrastructure, highways, healthcare, and urban transport, are aimed at boosting Gujarat\u2019s role as a hub of maritime-led growth and sustainable industrialisation.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister will begin his visit by participating in the \u2018Samudra se Samriddhi\u2019 event at Bhavnagar, where he will inaugurate several major projects and address a large gathering. Among the highlights are projects worth Rs 7,870 crore dedicated to the maritime sector, signalling the government\u2019s emphasis on advancing shipbuilding, port modernisation, coastal protection, and connectivity. Key developments include the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock and the laying of foundation stones for the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal, new container facilities at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, cargo handling facilities at Paradip Port, firefighting and road connectivity upgrades at Kamarajar Port in Ennore, and coastal protection works at Chennai Port and Car Nicobar Island. In addition, new projects at Deendayal Port, Kandla\u2014including a multipurpose berth and Green Bio-Methanol Plant\u2014along with ship repair facilities at Patna and Varanasi, will be launched.<\/p>\n
Gujarat itself will see projects worth Rs 26,354 crore, cutting across energy, healthcare, transport, and industrial development. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port and the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at the IOCL Refinery in Gujarat. Renewable energy initiatives include the launch of the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, the 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder project for farmers, the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project, and the complete solarisation of Dhordo village. He will also lay foundation stones for LNG infrastructure expansion, additional solar projects, new coastal protection works, and key highway upgrades, including the four-laning of a 70-km stretch of national highway. Healthcare in Gujarat will receive a boost through expansions at Sir T. General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital in Jamnagar, as well as improvements in urban transport systems.<\/p>\n
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will undertake an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), envisioned as a greenfield smart industrial city that integrates advanced infrastructure, sustainable practices, and global investment opportunities. He will also visit the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NHMC) at Lothal, a Rs 4,500-crore project under development to showcase India\u2019s ancient maritime traditions while serving as a centre for tourism, research, education, and skill development.<\/p>\n
The visit underlines the government\u2019s integrated strategy to drive economic growth by combining modern infrastructure with sustainable energy solutions and maritime-led development.
